A superb refurbished mill house and a 2.5 acre lake with carp to 40lb+. Les Vaux is a stone built mill house that dates back to the 16th Century and is set in the lush green countryside on the borders between Brittany, Normandy and the Pays de la Loire. It is approximately 2 hours from the ferry port of Caen and 1½ hours from St. Malo. The very pretty private lake that lies next to the house dates back over 300 years and has never previously been used as a commercial fishery. The venue is owned by an English couple Chas and Josie Cook, who have restored the lakeside house to a very high standard and stocked the lake with fish.

Excellent accommodation and specimen sized carp St. Christophe lies in the Champagne region of Eastern France, around 4 hours from Calais with the majority of the journey being by motorway. At the nearby famous Foret d’Orient lake complex there are numerous leisure activities, including swimming, cycle tracks and boating – making St. Christophe an ideal location for both the serious carper and for a family orientated carping holiday.
If you like to combine your carp fishing with trying for monster catfish then take a good look at the Windmill complex. There are two lakes, both around 4 acres, holding specimen carp… but the Top Lake also offers some serious catfishing with large cats to around 80lb. The lakes are only a few metres apart so you can bivvy up together between the two and still socialise whilst fishing different lakes. Windmill is therefore the perfect combination for a group of anglers with mixed abilities. The Main carp lake has the better stamp of carp whilst the Top lake is a real runs water that also gives you the chance to catch big cats… and you certainly know about it when you have one of these on the line, believe us!
Beaurepaire has been a well kept secret by many who have fished it. It’s a beautiful natural gravel pit, just 2.5 hours from Calais that’s stuffed with fish – it really is a runs water! It’s around 7 acres and would ideally suit a group of up to six anglers looking to book a lake exclusively… but individual bookings are welcome too. There are no designated swims but there’s plenty of room to bivvy up.
A picturesque lake with a good stock of carp to over 50lb, Le Lac de Beauté sits in the picturesque countryside of western France, about 3 hours from the ferry port of Caen. It’s surrounded by Canadian pines and is rich in wildlife – squirrels, rabbits, multi-coloured kingfishers and owls are frequent visitors. It’s situated about 10 minutes south of Le Mans and there’s a range of local shops about 2 minutes drive away including chemist, butchers, bakers, tobacconist and a supermarket. The lake is nestled in stunning countryside far from noise and light pollution, the loudest noise being the birdsong that provides a peaceful backdrop to the fantastic carp fishing on offer.
Great fishing, excellent accommodation and a truly peaceful location. La Bletiere is a beautiful little venue in the heart of the French countryside, around 2.5 hours from the ferry at Caen, where you can have a well stocked carp lake all to yourself and stay in a high quality gite on the banks of the lake. It’s owned by English couple John & Lesley London who live on site and are always on hand for help and advice. A maximum of 4 anglers can fish the lake but John prefers 3 as that gives you options to move around a little.
Cedar Lake is a 4 acre gravel pit with varying depths from 1m on the western end of the lake to over 3m at the eastern end of the lake. There are steep banks to most of the lake and gentle sloping banks to the private side leading to the front lawn of the private bungalow of the owners, Tommy and George Young. The lake is set in the valley of the River Seine, an area that is surrounded by other gravel pits, including the Island Lake, which is also owned and run, by Tommy and George. Mick Hall who has been on the French carp scene since the early pioneering days of Cassien, is a resident bailiff on the Island Lake but is also available for advice and help on Cedar Lake.
A cracking venue set in the countryside of rural north western France. Following the fantastic success of Morgane lakes fish farmer Michel Bigot decided to open a second lake, Commons Lake, just 1km away. Situated in the Mayenne region, near Laval, in the lush agricultural countryside of rural north western France, it is about 2.5 hours from the ferry port of Caen. He’s replicated Morganes as closely as possible – a lake you book exclusively for up to 6 anglers, complete with mobile home accommodation and stuffed full of large, pristine carp.
Stunning fishing with the chance of 70lb+ carp. For the first time for many years Croix is now available on a drive & survive basis. For the past 8 years it has only been available through fully inclusive trips run by A&J Euro Carp Sessions, but for 2009 A&J have decided to withdraw leaving the venue open to those who’d prefer to drive themselves. It’s around 2½ hours from Calais so the driving is not difficult. The A&J bailiff, Les, will be staying on so you can be assured of excellent advice if it’s your first visit.
